 Rhaeadr Herd goes under the Hammer

 

The Rhaeadr herd of pedigree Welsh Black cattle, established in 1964, will go under the hammer on Wednesday 5 November 2008. 

 

Under the instruction of Mrs Charmaine Middleton, who is selling the majority of her cattle which are organic, of an Elite Herd Health status, within the Premium Herd Health Scheme, and also a closed herd.

 

The sale starts at 12 noon at Old Hall, Dolau, Llandrindod Wells , LD1 5TL , with McCartneys Auctioneers selling the cattle.

 

The 59 head of cattle consists of 24 cows, 21 with calves at heel; 5 in-calf heifers; 9 maiden heifers.  In total 38 lots of cattle will be sold.

 

Mrs Middleton has been a leading member of The Welsh Black Cattle Society and has decided to sell the majority of her cattle, retaining only the older pre-1996 cows and a few young stock. 

 

For further information Mrs Middleton is available on 01597 851247.  Herd inspection is only with a prior appointment.  Provisions are in place for buyers travelling far to keep cattle on the farm until transport can be arranged - again this is with prior discussion with Mrs Middleton.
