Welsh Black Cattle Society 's Spring Sale at Dolgellau (April
25 th ) was characterised by brisk trade and good prices.
Nearly
200 pedigree store steers and heifers went under the hammer
at the sale which was sponsored by Tithebarn Ltd, and which
saw prices exceed those previously recorded at the sale.

Llandovery (April 18) where entries and prices exceeded the
2007 sale.
Some
94 pedigree Welsh Black steers and heifers were sold as part

Devotees
of Wales ' native cattle breed will have an additional opportunity
to purchase pedigree Welsh Black breeding cattle when the
Welsh Black Cattle Society holds an extra sale at Llandovery
Market on Saturday, April 12.
The
sale is an addition to the pedigree breeding cattle sales
calendar, and was arranged for the benefit of young bulls
which would qualify for the Welsh Beef Quality Improvement
Project funded by Hybu Cig Cymru (HCC).

two years ago had attracted 100 members in a 12 month period,
and puts the breed back on par with its position 30 years
ago before the influx of continental cattle.

The
New Year got off to a good start for the Welsh Black Cattle
Society at today's (January 15 th ) sale at Dolgellau with
the surge in interest in pedigree beef cattle boding well
for 2008.
Farmers
travelled to North Wales from as far as Dumfriesshire in Scotland
, Pickering in North Yorkshire and Devon and Cornwall for
the sale which saw 79 Welsh Blacks entered for sale.
