sale was Waedog Catrin 62nd from Emyr Wyn Jones, which sold
for 950gns
In-calf
heifer, Waedog Alwen 28 th, led the way at the Welsh Black
Cattle Society's annual Carlisle sale – the only sale to be
held outside of Wales.

Dolgellau Annual Autumn Show and Sale saw Bala breeder Gwenfair
Jones and Sons of Hafod-yr-Esgob scoop 50 per cent of the
pre-sale show awards, selling a total of five heifers averaging
£1370 gns a head.

he prepares to embark on an antipodean adventure young Ceredigion
farmer Cennydd Eynon is next month (June) putting his herd
of pedigree Welsh Black cattle up for sale.
The
23 year-old who farms at Golygfa, Beulah, Newcastle Emlyn,
established the Dyffryn Herd in 2000 with Castell, Cennen,
Iwrch, Trefaes and Neuadd bloodlines forming the females,
and the Iwrch herd forming the bulls.

AFTER
an export break of 17 years, a consignment of Welsh Black
Cattle will leave Wales next week for farms in Denmark and
Germany .
The
export is the first for the Society since March 1990, and
the 21 pedigree breeding cattle have been specially chosen
by the European farmers from six farms in south and mid Wales.

was a mixture of business and pleasure for Welsh Black Cattle
Society (WBCS) members yesterday at their annual general meeting
and dinner.
Held at the Marine
Hotel in Aberystwyth, the day saw retiring WBCS President,
Robert Williams, Penywern, Talybont, hand over his chain of
office to John Pratt, The Hillis Farm, Llanfilo, Talgarth
near Brecon.

The
bulls took the lead today (Friday, May 4 th ) as the Welsh
Black Cattle Society celebrated its 50 th Annual Spring Show
and Sale at Dolgellau.
Some
27 animals were sold including 12 bulls, with the top price
of the day going to the pre-sale show champion bull Gwern-Cynyddion
Erddyn 11 th which was sold for 4,800gns.

After
five years of promotion, marketing, and creating awareness
of their beef, the Welsh Black Cattle Society's Organic Club
has held a celebratory dinner.
The
Organic Club now boasts 70 members – approximately 18%
of the Society's members as a whole – and more than
half turned out for the event at the Fronolau Farm Hotel at
Tabor near Dolgellau, where they dined on what else but organic
Welsh Black Beef.
