Welsh Black Cattle Society celebrates centenary in 2004

The Welsh Black Cattle Society was formed in 1904. During 2004 the Society is celebrating it's centenary of recording pedigree Welsh Black cattle.

The Royal Welsh Show held during July 2004 will be a focal point for member celebrations.

During the Show delegates from Australia, New Zealand, Canada, America and Germany will be in attendance. During the week the delegates hope to attend an International Conference and one delegate from each Country will be invited to address the audience, about their involvement in the breeding and improvement of the quality of Welsh Black cattle in their home country.

Mrs Jenny Buckton, from Victoria in Australia, will launch a book which is dedicated to the evolution of the breed and its progress and development over the years.

The official launch will take place at the 2004 Royal Welsh Show and it is anticipated that the Society's Patron, His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales, will be present at the launch and signing of the first book.

On the Tuesday evening of the 2004 Show a Centenary Dinner for up to 400 members will take place on the Showground.

Whilst the Society does not celebrate it's actual 100th birthday until 24th August 2004 events will be organised and confirmed in due course to enable as many members and friends of the Society to become actively involved.
